Weeks Seventeen and Eighteen

 WEEKS SEVENTEEN AND EIGHTEEN

I honestly cannot believe we have been gone for four and a half months. Crazy! It has definitely been a journey full of new and exciting adventures as well as legitimate challenges. My real estate business has suffered and that is something I am going to have to figure out if we continue this Big Adventure. Our marriage has been strained at times, which I expected. I do feel like we have handled the challenges pretty well. Communicating with each other is an on going struggle that we are constantly working on improving. All in all, I feel that this lifestyle is not something that I am interested in maintaining inevitably, but I can handle it for a bit longer. 😀

I will tell you what, Arizona has the best sunsets and, being out, away from the lights of a city or town, allows for the most beautiful night skies you have ever seen. I am not good at taking night pictures. My moon shots are always blurry and not anywhere near a close representation of what my eyes are seeing. I love this picture, though. I didn't even try to have the solar lights a part of the shot, but I am so glad they are. Isn't is just so pretty?

We did get some more rain. And wind! My goodness, the wind blows so hard out here! It rained for two days on and off. Mostly on. And when the storm blew away to the North, the clouds with the sun shinning on them was a sight to see. Again, the camera cannot capture what my eyes saw. Big, giant, fluffy clouds with the sun shining on their edges, making them look like they were lined with silver. So pretty.

Gary's brother and sister-in-law came to visit (you know, the one that won't let me post his picture?). We had a fun time riding around the desert for three days in a row. We went back out to Palmarita Ranch so that Pat (sister-in-law) could see it. The first time we were there, we did not know about the cemetery. From what I have read, the ranch was once a farmstead growing alfalfa. There used to be a school house and other ranches as well. This may not sound like much, but if you saw the road you had to take to get to this place, you would be as amazed as me.

We went to the old school bus again as well. Only this trip, there was water running! There are three rivers that converge and flow into Alamo Lake, The Big Sandy, Santa Maria River and the Bill Williams River. Pretty cool, huh? Super pretty down by the water. We stopped and let the dogs play and ate some lunch. Very cool! You would never know you are in the middle of a desert.

And, of course, we saw wild burros!

Well, one more week and then we are going to start meandering home! I am excited to get back into a routine and really focus on my real estate business. Not to mention, no forty-five minutes down a bumpy dirt road to get coffee creamer at the Dollar General! I'm not complaining. It has been a Big Adventure. One of the biggest for me, that's for sure. I have learned a lot about myself. Mostly, that Gary and I can do anything if we put our minds to it. And, we do not need all the "stuff" to be content.

I hope you are doing well and are happy. I will check in one more time after we get "home". Talk at ya later!
