Week Three
Week three has come to an end and we are doing well! We see the wild burros just about every day and last night they were braaaaaaaaaying right outside our camper! We can get fairly close but I am pretty certain they are not going to let anyone pet them.
Sunday started off as a good day but, unfortunately, it ended not so good for some. Gary,
Sage and I had gone for a ride and when we got back to the camper, there was a side by side sitting on the side of the road across from our camp. After about ten minutes or so, four more pulled up and a vehicle. They all just sat there forever and we thought that maybe someone in their group fell behind and they were waiting for them. Nope. Not the case. Next thing we know, an ambulance shows up. I have no idea where it came from, but as I have said over and over, we are IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!
After what felt like forever (imagine how it felt to the person they were helping!), we heard Life Flight. They came in and had a hard time landing due to the dust. Finally, they landed and it took at least another forty-five minutes for them to get the person loaded and take off again. They literally landed right behind our camper. We found out the next day that it was a heart attack or stroke. So scary.
We go for a ride pretty much every day. Nothing crazy (because I am not taking a ride on Life Flight if I can help it!), we just putt around and check stuff out. We take our fishing poles just in case we find a sweet spot to throw them in. So far, we have had zero luck in the fishing department 😒
We met some nice people, Deb and Lisa, who are boondocking for their first time as well. Deb is an avid fisherman (fisherwoman?) so we have gone a couple of times with them. We had them over Friday night for drinks, Boise football and snacks. It was nice having someone else to talk to you! I think Gary and I both really enjoyed their company.
You are probably wanting to know how our Sage is doing! She has not had anymore "episodes" so we are just praying that it was a one time thing. She is loving being able to run, explore, swim and bark at the burros. She misses her brother, Dillon like crazy! She does really well on our long drives and is getting used to being around strangers. She's a good girl!
I hope you are doing well and life is good. Life is definitely different for me, and sometimes different is a good thing! I miss my friends and family but it's not forever. Thanks for checking in and I hope you have a wonderful week. Give me a call anytime!
