WEEK TWO
We have survived our second week of The Big Adventure! We left Prescott Valley on Monday morning and arrived at Alamo Lake, AZ three and half hours later. We found a great spot to set up camp, with plenty of room for a few visitors (hint hint).
This is a very remote area with nothing around, except the Wayside Oasis, for miles. The Wayside Oasis is a little bar/grill that has horseshoe pits, cold beer and yummy burgers. They also have water, propane and fuel, so that's a bonus! It is fifteen minutes from our camper, on a dirt road, to an asphalt road. Another thirty minutes to Hwy 60 which will take you to Quartzsite if you head west for an hour and an hour and a half to the east is Wickenburg, AZ. Crazy.
We went fishing on Tuesday and only managed to get snagged...multiple times. We are going to explore the area a little more and find a better spot. There is supposed to be bass and tilapia and I really want to catch some!
We had been invited to a potluck at the Oasis for Thanksgiving and I was really looking forward to it. Those of you that know me well, know that I am a super social person. Having only Gary and Sage to talk to gets a little lonely for me, so meeting new people and socializing sounded like just what I needed. While I was making my cream corn to take to the party, Sage had a seizure. She is almost four years old and in excellent health and has never had anything like this happen before. It scared Gary and I badly. I finally got in touch with a vet in Wickenburg and he was amazing. He calmed me down, told me what to do and made an appointment for us to see him the next day. We drove the hour and a half into town, had blood work done and saw the vet and then headed back to camp. I just heard back from the vet this morning and blood work all came back normal. Now, we are just supposed to keep an eye on her. I hope it never happens again.
On a lighter note, before the Thanksgiving Big Scare, we went on a ride to try and find a geocache. We didn't find it (this time) but we did get to see some wild burros! So awesome!
The sunsets are absolutely gorgeous! I had forgotten how beautiful the skies are in AZ. I am sure I will be taking tons of sunset pics, so be ready!
Not sure what is on the agenda for today. Maybe I will put up Christmas lights outside. Dillon is going to fly into Phoenix and be with us for Christmas! I can't wait! I miss him so much. I thought it would be pretty cool to have the camper decked out for the holiday so when he gets here, so it looks like Christmas 🎄.
Thanks for checking in and I will talk to ya next week (unless, of course, you want to reach out sooner. That would be totally ok with me 😀)
