Week One
Sunset in Prescott Valley, AZ
Week One!
Hello there and thanks for checking in with us! We have just wrapped up week one (well, almost. May add a little to this one 😀) on our Big Adventure and it was full of fun making new memories with some old friends. We also struggled through a few hiccups as well.
We left our home in Eden, Idaho on Sunday, Nov. 17th and made it to Alamo, Nevada We parked in a huge dirt lot and had it all to ourselves. Our three year old, chocolate lab, Sage, is adjusting pretty well. She has been camping with us before, but never on a Big Adventure! We haven't socialized her very well (bad humans!) so, the adjustment is real. I have a strong feeling that she will be fine. She is a big girl (98 lbs.) and our fifth-wheel is pretty big, but we tend to get in each other's way. We'll figure it our eventually 😀 She has the biggest heart and wants to meet everyone 💓
We got all set to take off for our friends in Prescott Valley on Monday morning, and our bedroom slide would not go in. Ugh. After almost an hour working on it, we were finally on our way. We headed out and had a perfect day to drive. We made it to Las Vegas and fueled up. I may have to find a side hustle to pay for fuel. Holly cow! I had no idea that the truck would, at times, only get FIVE MILES TO THE GALLON! What the hell????
We passed Lake Mead via the Hoover Damn and traffic was minimal, so that was good! Finally hit the Arizona state line and kept on going to Prescott Valley! Drive took a little over three hours, so not bad.
We plan on heading out to Alamo Lake, Nevada on Sunday or Monday. They have great bass fishing so I'm excited to see how we do.
On a personal note, we are doing well. I can't speak for Gary, but I have already had my struggles. I miss my son, Dillon, SO MUCH! And it's been less than a week. Those that know me, know that I am a worrier, and I have been doing a lot of that lately. I know we will be fine, and we can head home whenever we please, it's just a very different lifestyle. The jury is still out on the outcome of this Big Adventure, so stay tuned.
If you have any suggestions for our travels, or our mindset, please feel free to share.
Love to all 💓
