Week Four

WEEK FOUR

We have officially been away from home for one month! Wow. It went pretty fast. I have had more than one person ask me what we do all day, and, surprisingly, our days are very similar to when we were home, just a little different. We usually get up and have a cup of coffee, make breakfast and get ready for the day. I am usually working until two or three o'clock, depending on what is going on. Then we will take Sage for a ride and most days let her swim in the lake. Most evenings we play a game of cards, talk, read or watch tv. We  make our dinner, clean up the kitchen and hit the sack! (There may, or may not be, a few cocktail hours in between there 😉)

On Monday we took a trip to Wenden, AZ, which is the closest town to us. I wanted to get a couple of things for the camper to decorate for Christmas. When we got home, Gary and I put up some lights to make it a little festive around here! Made me happy 💓.

On Tuesday, we had to get everything in the camper secured, which means putting pictures, knick-knacks and what have you, all away so that we could drive up the road to the Wayside Oasis and dump our black tank. That may not be a big deal to you, and maybe TMI, but we were pretty stoked to have gone three weeks without having to dump! LOL! Pardon the pun 😁💩.

I put my hummingbird feeder out just hoping that the little beauties lived out here. Guess what? They do! They come every day and I can see them from my workspace. It makes me so happy!

Gary's brother Duane came on Thursday to hang out with us for the weekend. What an awesome treat! Pat, his wife, couldn't come due to previous commitments, and I was pretty bummed. But we had tons on fun and went on super cool rides! Our new friends, Lisa and Deb, ending up going with us two of the three days we rode and they just loved it. I think they thanked us at least twenty times! (Duane doesn't like me to post any pics of him, sorry.)

On our first ride, I about had a heart attack, I was so nervous! The trail was very rough and I'm not going to lie, I really wanted to turn around and go home. I am so glad we didn't! We found an old school bus that Gary and I had seen on more than one YouTube video and I have no idea how in the heck it got out there. Apparently, there used to be a mine there and it was there as part of the old mining camp. Boggled my mind! When I researched Alamo Lake, I found a couple of articles stating that there is also a submerged town, Alamo Crossing, at the bottom of the lake! Just crazy stuff out here!

A little further down the trail we came across an abandoned mine. Super cool and so interesting that they actually had cement pads out in the boonies. I kept wondering how in the heck they got out there. It was hard for us and we were on machines built for that kind of terrain. Crazy!

On another ride, Duane somehow found "the ranch". Again, just out in the middle of nowhere! It is called Palmerita Ranch. Click on the link to learn more about it. Founded in 1840, it has been well preserved and it was fun to explore.

I can't wait to see what week five brings. Although I am most excited for this week to fly by so that the 23rd gets here quickly! That is the day Dillon comes and I CAN'T WAIT! I cannot imagine Christmas without him and I am so grateful that we are able to spend the holiday together. Have a great week and I will talk with ya soon!

Gary and Lynn

P.S. Look at this sweet girl we came across. Those eyes!
