Week Eight
Two months in the desert! Average temperature has been sixty-eight degrees. Beautiful sunsets and warm afternoons make me think that agreeing to do this "Big Adventure" with my husband may have been a wise choice 😏.
This past week has been pretty chill. I have been working, reading, journaling and walking. I took Sage down the road the other afternoon and on my way back, I got a different look at our "campsite". This picture is looking west, towards the lake.
We really do have a pretty sweet spot! Sage has TONS of room to roam, the burros visit us and the sunsets never fail to impress. The other night Gary and I both heard a weird animal sound. It sounded like there were two of them but I have no idea what they were. I remembered that I had packed the two little cameras I purchased when my Mom was with us. I used them to keep an eye on her while I was at work. They are pretty sweet and if I remember correctly, they were not very expensive. Here's the link, if you want to check them out: Wyze camera
I set two up outside to see what we could catch and got this shot of some critter. Not quite sure what it is...
The next morning Gary and I were making breakfast and caught some movement out the window. These two were just out for a morning jog!
According to the locals, there are kit fox, coyotes, bobcats and javelina out here. I'm sure there are other critters as well.
Gary and I had to go to Salome, AZ to get propane and I remembered there was a geocache in that area on my app. I had Gary take me to it and it was a fun one! This is on private property and according to the description in the app, the owner has allowed the cache to placed here. Spoiler alert! The cache itself is a tackle box with lots of cool stuff inside. Pretty cleaver!
I found a couple more signs that made me giggle! It's the little things, right?!
I fed Bob the Desert Tortoise some cauliflower one morning. He gobbled it up in no time! According to the gal that works/manages the Wayside, JoAnn, he is about eighty years old!
Wrapping up, I just want to let you know that I am very grateful to be able to have this Big Adventure with my husband. I am excited to see what each day brings and what new friends we may make along the way. I am also very grateful for my family and friends that have kept me from being too lonesome.
Have a great week and we'll talk at ya later!
Gary and Lynn
