WEEK NINETEEN
We spent our last week at the lake swimming, riding and getting ready to leave for "home". Our friends, Lisa and Deb, had their grandson, Gavin, from Oregon visiting over Spring Break. What a cutie! Gavin is five years old and just the neatest kid you could imagine. We hit it off pretty spectacularly, if I do say so myself! It probably helped that I left painted rocks at Deb and Lisa's camper to greet him when he arrived. One even had his name on it! He thinks that the miner's left them for him as a welcome 😁 I also gave him a couple of our kites. He loves playing with his construction trucks in the dirt!
I flew my new "big kite" and it is awesome! It is kind of hard to fly because it is so strong, but it sure looks cool when it's up there in the sky! It has a six foot wing span! I need to get a spool to be able to control it better. At least, I think that's what I need 😁
We had a couple of super hot days (ninety-seven degrees!), so the only thing I could do was to hang out at the lake in the water! It was amazing! I think I would rather be in the water than anywhere. Gavin and Sage loved it too, which made it that much more fun!
We had one last "Happy Hour" with the girls and Gavin and it was bitter sweet. When they left our camp, I shed a few tears. I am just so grateful that Gary and I were fortunate enough to meet Deb and Lisa and to have made two new life long friends. Gary and I are hoping that they will find their way to our neck of the woods and spend some time with us either at Dillon's house (aka our old house) or up at Henry's Lake in June for our annual trip. Here's to new friends, young and old!

We took off on Friday afternoon, after stopping one last time at the
Wayside Oasis to dump our black tank, pick up our propane tanks I had dropped off the day before to be filled (thanks Pete!) and say goodbye to everyone there. We headed over to Hope, Arizona, to the
Ramblin' Roads RV Resort for the night. We had planned to just go far enough to get off the dirt road coming out of Alamo Lake and stay the night somewhere to give us a head start towards home on Saturday morning. Well, leaving is stressful, in my humble opinion, and I had had enough stress to last me for awhile. When we could not find a suitable place to park for the night, I decided that I would book us a spot at Ramblin' Roads for $40 and call it good. So glad I did! The park was super nice and very quiet (a little too quiet for me on a Friday night, just say'n). They had a dog park for Sage and we met a couple of nice people. Plus, I saw this crazy Saguaro growing straight up through a Mesquite Tree!

Saturday morning we were up and at 'em fairly early, by our standards anyway 😀 and on the road by nine o'clock. We headed to Alamo, Nevada, where we stayed the very first night we left on The Big Adventure. Crazy. It was a little surreal, being back in civilization, with traffic and tons of people (after we left Alamo, I mean 😀 There is really nothing in Alamo, NV). Even though we were only gone four and a half months, it seems like a lot longer. I really didn't think I would like being so isolated, and I actually wouldn't say I LIKED it, but I did get used to it. Being back in the chaos is a bit challenging, but I'm up for anything! Although, driving that big rig through Las Vegas was nerve wracking!
Gary had taken the truck on a beer run! LOL! Sage and I hung out in our amazing camping spot in
Alamo, Nevada (told you there was not much here!)
Sunday morning we got up early, made some breakfast and headed the rest of the way home. Thank goodness the journey was fairly uneventful with no arguments and we arrived "home" safe and sound. We saw our first snow since last February on the way. It is definitely pretty!
Getting back home is a little weird, I'm not going to lie. Dillon is working out of town, so he wasn't here to greet us. All of things that made this house feel like home are basically gone or in storage. I feel a little bit disconnected. I am heading into my office tomorrow and I am sure that will help me feel a little more grounded. Glad to be back, but also missing the warm sun and the new friends. I am so grateful that we had our Big Adventure, and, not surprisingly, it's really not over! Stay tuned for more posts about our journey and thanks for coming along. I hope you and yours are content, healthy and looking forward to your next Big Adventure!
Talk at ya later 💓
