Week Fifteen and Sixteen

WEEKS FIFTEEN AND SIXTEEN

Another two weeks in the books! I waited to post until now because we have really not done anything exciting or newsworthy. We are still enjoying the warm Arizona weather though! Especially when we check the weather at home and it is snowing! Yuck. Speaking of home, we are planning on heading that way the first or second week in April. I am super excited to get back to my routine. Although it will be a little different due to the fact that we will still be living in our fifth wheel. I am also excited to be back in the office and doing open houses and actually talking to people IN PERSON! Yay!

The other day, I was sitting at my desk and caught a movement out of the corner of my eye. A large bird was sitting on the hummingbird feeder and it was so pretty! I Googled it and it was a Gila Woodpecker. Love to see and learn about wildlife! Apparently they like nectar, among other things, and this one figured out how to hang upside down and drink out of the feeder. So cool!

I was on the phone with Dillon and he asked me if I had seen any of the wild burros. I hadn't and thought it was a little odd and wondered where they all were. I glanced out the window, not kidding, and low and behold! Three donkeys cruising down the road (click on picture and zoom in to see them better).

We actually got some rain! Up until January 29th, Arizona had gone 159 days without moisture. The record in Arizona is 160 days, so they really needed it. It has been raining where we are off and on for the last couple of days. I wonder if it is going to be enough to cause a big bloom in the desert? I hope if it does, it happens before we head home! There was even a skiff of snow on the mountains surrounding us.

Of course I flew our kites again! It is so funny how just a kite can cause just about everybody to smile 😁 People would drive by and honk and wave and the people camping next to us all moved their chairs for a better view. So fun! I ordered a new kite and had it shipped to Duane (you know, the brother-in-law that won't let me post his picture?). He and his wife, Pat, will be here on the 16th and I can't wait to fly it! It is supposed to be pretty large and I love the pattern on it.

We had to go into Wickenburg on Saturday unexpectedly. Our pump that we use to pump the water out of the tank in the back of the pickup quit, so we headed to town to get a new one. Gary picked up a tomato plant to put in the empty planter we have. Can't wait for some home grown tomatoes! He usually plants twenty to twenty-five plants every year in the garden, but since we no longer HAVE a garden area, I will have to settle for one plant 🍅

I cut up a bunch of melon and took the rinds up to the bar and fed Bob, the Desert Tortoise. He LOVES watermelon!

This is the view that we are seeing now looking South from our camper. I think it is pretty in a desert kind of way 🌵

Little Known Fact: Did you know that school buses that have been converted to mobile living spaces are called "Skoolies"? And, there is an event held in Quartzite, AZ called "Skooliepalooza". It is going on now until March 14th. I saw a couple Skoolies near us!

Hope all is well with you and yours and thanks for taking the time to check in. Talk at ya later 💙

Gary and Lynn (and Sage, of course!)
